The Maddox Maxi Conveyor vision system was developed to inspect highly variable metal, plastic, and rubber parts for surface defects in industrial production. It addresses the limitations of traditional inspection methods, which struggle with the wide variability in part geometry, surface conditions, oil contamination, and the large number of possible defect types.

Delta Visione has developed an offline system for the 360° inspection and measurement of a precision mechanical apparatus consisting of a rotating rotor and stator performing up to 160 measurements in a single inspection with an accuracy of 0.02 mm.

Injector nozzles are widely used in the automotive industry and are subjects to different types of inspection, as they undergo both measurement and surface checks. DGSORT is a 100% belt sorting system designed to inspect the size and shape of objects including screws, pins and bolts up to 120 mm in length. The system has sub-centesimal precision and reaches rates of up to 700 pieces per minute.

Microplates are widely employed in the life sciences and biomedical industries. As automation has become the leitmotif with Industry 4.0 trend, machine vision has extended its application range in these fields, including the inspection of microplates. Due to their peculiar shape, the inspection of microplates requires a view that is not affected by perspective, thus telecentric lenses are the ideal choice.

The application consists in the top-down inspection of the stator to perform an accurate measurement of the distances between the various parts and to search for any defects in the winding process of copper wires around the iron cores.

The customer was asked by a pharmaceutical company to develop an inline vision system to verify labels on small plastic bottles at a rate of 60 ppm. The inspection required performing OCR to read the reference code, control or lot number on the label for Track and Trace purposes. Moreover, they had to verify that the label was applied correctly on the bottle: specifically the “double-label” issue was checked, that is when two labels were incorrectly applied to the bottle.

The aim of the project is to detect different types of defects on the surface of film encoder wheels such as impurities on the tracks, small scratches as well as imperfections occurred during the glass forming process. The goal is also to measure the dimensions of some features of the encoders like gaps, angles and incorrect distances.

Torus decided to design a new measurement machine for plastic bottles and preforms up to 200 mm in diameters. The systems performs accurate measurement of neck dimensions, body diameter, thread measurement, perpendicularity, wall and base thickness. The final solution integrates two identical telecentric CORE lens and lights mounted on two motorized slides: each optical system performs accurate measurements on a 47,4 mm x 37,9 mm field of view with a resolution up to 18,522 microns per pixel.

The customer was asked to develop a unique setup both inline and offline for: dimensional control of the products onboard with a user interface, positioning of the cuttings online, automatic dimensional control of the pieces offline.
A high measurement accuracy, less than 0,1 mm, was required. Moreover, there were strict space constraints inside the machine, thus a compact solution was needed.

Our customer, Trilobit, was requested to work on a system for inspection of food cans. In this article we’ll describe the application, discussing the results from our feasibility study and how the chosen components successfully brought to a solution.

The customer needed to inspect toothpaste caps to find cosmetic defects in the production process such as scratches, dents or chips. An all-round inspection was required given the random position of the defects.

The application goal is to detect surface defects of engine rings of different sizes (over 1500 parts), especially defects such as small cracks or voids as small as 200 μm located anywhere on the inner diameter. The rings range from 25 mm to 76 mm in diameter and 4 mm to 20 mm in height.

The application goal is to identify defects on transparent plastic caps presenting residual dirt from the cap production, which can be present both internally and externally, not compatible with the cap final use (IV bags).

By measuring the deformation of the expected pattern, it is easy to obtain a 3D map of the blister pack and to check the volume of each cavity to identify absences or defects.

The vision system with a telecentric lens displays and automatically records images of cultured cells allowing to detect any differentiation process as it happens.

The coupling of a compact telecentric lens with a high-uniformity backlight illuminator generates a highly contrasted silhouette of large bottles. The images are then processed with a dedicated metrology software.

The fill level of transparent bottles/vials is checked with a fixed focal length lens and diffused backlight illumination. The image is then processed with a dedicated machine vision software.

Syringes are inspected at a full 360° to check for possible incorrect cap placements or bent needles. TC CAGE lenses allow to obtain four orthonormal views in a single image that is then processed by a dedicated vision software.
