2023 was a year full of excitement and challenges for Opto Engineering®. The company has taken a further step forward in establishing itself as a leading supplier for all machine vision components by launching a new series of cameras Made in Italy: ITALA®. Opto Engineering® carries on the tradition of Italian excellence delivering a line of industrial cameras, totally designed and manufactured in Italy by its Research and Development team based out of its headquarters in Mantova.

It has been a year in which many shows resumed and, thanks to these fairs and many other events, Opto Engineering® had the pleasure of meeting customers and partners again in person.

Furthermore, it has been a milestone year for its foreign branches: Opto Engineering USA and Opto Engineering Deutschland celebrated respectively 15 and 10 years since their establishment.

In 2023, Opto Engineering® reaffirmed itself as a company that cares deeply about its people, organizing a team building program on corporate values that lasted 6 months, involving local institutions such as the Teatro Magro in Mantova and Rugby Mantova. The activities offered to the entire OE team required personal commitment and embracing change and they were extremely successful.

The Year of Rebirth

2021
2020

2020 was an unprecedented year shaped by the global effects of the health emergency touching everyone’s life. For this reason, Opto Engineering has chosen to support its workforce not just professionally.

We experienced this difficult and unpredictable period in an intense way. At first, we reacted swiftly by reorganizing the workflow from a safety point of view. However, we immediately recognized that this was our opportunity to reassess in full our business and to self-reflect to finally reemerge from this darkness stronger than before with new identifying values. Once the new corporate values were set, while pursuing a more effective and functional new structure, a job reorganization project was born. This was followed by a managerial training course designed to help the internal resources grow.

Likewise, Opto Engineering recognized 2020 as the year to invest time and resources in analyzing its positioning within the industry, identifying markets where new opportunities were expanding and where instead they were diminishing. Indeed, we supplied products and services to new customers. The growth trend mainly concerned the consumer electronics sector in Asia, while globally we were most active in the pharmaceutical, medical diagnostics, EV components, beverage, and packaging industries. With this new structure, we are running again with more enthusiasm, ready to face any challenge that awaits us.

A year of renewal and reconfiguration

2020
2019

Opto Engineering, while constantly in the pursuit of the perfect mix of innovation and simple design, released the Core Plus Family, consisting of compact lenses and telecentric illuminators that deliver unprecedented results for large field of view applications. To optimize the performances of metrology systems Opto Engineering developed a specialized software: the TCLIB Suite. With the use of both a .dll library and dedicated stand-alone tools, TCLIB makes it easy to take care of all aspects of a typical telecentric setup (focusing, alignment, distortion calibration) which, if not properly addressed, can negatively affect measurement results. One more indispensable element of any machine vision system is choosing the most appropriate camera. This is the reason why Opto Engineering decided to release Area Scan and Line Scan industrial cameras bearing its brand. In 2019 two more Opto Engineering strobe controllers were added to the lineup: the LTDVE8CH-20 and the LTDVE4CH-20. These high precision controllers were designed to very accurately control current intensity, pulse duration and pulse delay while providing also cutting-edge features such as the filtering of incoming signals.

CORE PLUS patented telecentric technologies...and many more products!

2018

Demand of Opto Engineering products kept growing worldwide, notably in the Asia-Pacific market. Fittingly Deep View, Opto Engineering’s subsidiary in China, moved to a new and larger office space in Shanghai. Furthermore in 2018 two Tech Support specialists were assigned to each of the following foreign subsidiaries: Shanghai, Houston and Munich. Concurrently Opto Engineering, in partnership with its joint venture SENSOE, announced the launch on the world market of PENSO, an AI-based computational unit designed for imaging applications. The Opto Engineering product family grew further by adding new LED illuminators for 3D vision applications, ideal for food packaging quality control, reverse engineering, measurement and planarity check of electronic components and robotic guidance (picking, drop off and placement). Last but not least, keeping true to its core belief of “simple works better”, Opto Engineering’s domain name was updated: www.opto-engineering.com was replaced by www.opto-e.com to deliver a more immediate, sharp and global communication.

The global consolidation year
