Nowadays biomedical and pharmaceutical industries must fully comply with increasingly demanding standards especially concerning zero fault policies. The recent COVID-19 wave has accelerated the need for increased speed and quality assurance.
In these sectors, machine vision plays an essential role in implementing 100% inspection of all products.

For example, in the manufacturing process of vials it is essential to avoid contamination: this is achieved by checking for crimping of aluminum seal, cracks and scratches on the glass surface, missing flip-off, vial integrity etc.
The reliability of the inspection system is therefore critical: this is the reason why a smart solution can be implemented by choosing wisely the optical components for the system, saving both space in the manufacturing line and processing time in software algorithms.

Luca Bonato

Luca is a Product Manager at Opto Engineering®.
After graduating with a Masters’ Degree in Physics from the University of Padua in 2015, he relocated to Houston (TX) where he worked as an application engineer/technical support for the USA branch of Opto Engineering.
He then moved back to Italy and took on his current role in Product Management.
He has a strong academic and technical mindset which is combined with firsthand knowledge on the everyday issues and needs of the machine vision industry.
